Stormwater

When you are enjoying fair weather, it’s easy to forget about your stormwater systems. Yes, it’s the responsibility of your local council to manage your community’s stormwater. But what happens on your property – your drain connections, your stormwater pits, your gutters, your downpipes – is all up to you. Let your guard drop, and you risk flooding, pooling water, sinkholes, structural damage – and one hell of a wet mess!

Your problems could be:

  • Blockages caused by storm debris or tree roots
  • Badly designed or installed stormwater pipes & fittings
  • Damaged, broken, degrading or collapsed stormwater infrastructure
  • A stormwater system that is undersized & easily overwhelmed
  • Erosion over time, damage to your garden, contamination
  • Gradual structural damage to your premises and foundations
  • Uncontrolled water affecting the community or neighbouring properties
  • Saturated soil
If your stormwater systems may need a professional inspection and attention, it’s a great idea to get it done right now – before the heavens open up and create an awfully messy, unhealthy, unsafe, damaging and frustrating problem.

Luckily, Stanthorpe Plumbing & Gas are the absolute masters in stormwater drainage solutions. If the sun is still out, give us a call and we’ll be there in a flash to go over your stormwater systems with a fine-tooth comb – and guarantee that we won’t rest until your place is 100% ready for the next shower – or downpour.

Sanitary

Every single day, almost without rea

Every single day, almost without realizing it, our lives are made possible thanks to a complex network of drains and pipes – most of which are hidden from sight, tucked away underground, and the only way to view them is with through using sophisticated technology such as CCTV drain camera equipment.

Unfortunately, those ‘out of sight, out of mind’ pipes and drains can spend years slowly developing problems that we only notice once they’re way past the point of repair for the home handyman.

Have you spotted any of the signs of a pipe/drain problem?:

Is water draining slowly or backing up?
Do your drains smell odd or foul?
Can you hear gurgling and other unusual sounds?
Is your toilet water level rising, or is the toilet almost empty?

Ignore these signs for long enough, and a relatively minor plumbing problem or symptom can quickly establish itself as a totally blocked drain or pipe – and a completely seized and ineffective plumbing system. And the only thing worse than the inconvenience may be the devastating damage and huge repair bills.

It wasn’t too long ago when even the most skilled & experienced plumbers would shrug their shoulders when a blockage proved too hidden, inaccessible or difficult to deal with. Often, these professionals would resort to invasive and disruptive excavation that would be expensive, time-consuming and so often ineffective – but no more.

Stanthorpe Plumbing & Gas offer several Drain Cleaning & Clearing methods, with excavation & replacement as being a rarely used last resort. Our Hydro Jetter (see below for more information) is custom made to our specifications, and is the highest performing unit in its class. It is putting out 5500psi @ 40 litres per minute. So powerful in fact that you need to be licensed to operate it.  We also have standard Ridgid Coil / Eel type machines.

Are the drains in your home :

  • Slow to drain, or not draining at all?
  • Making strange gurgling noises?
  • Releasing a foul smell?
  • Is the water in your toilet too high or too low?

If you are experiencing any (or all) of the above, it is likely that you have a blocked drain that requires unclogging. Call us today so we can provide you with speedy, reliable and affordable drainage solutions for your home or office.

Hydro Jetter Drain Machine

All homeowners encounter slow or clogged sewers and drains at some point. Materials often get stuck in drains and toilets, while grease, minerals and other debris can build up in your pipes over time. When it comes to slow or clogged lines, there are a number of methods that can be used to fix the problem, but nothing compares to hydro jetting.

Our Jetter has been custom made to order, built using the most impressive components, the largest & highest HP V-Twin stationary engine on the market, factory modified with EFI. Our machine has literally TWICE the performance of most hydro jetters being used in the domestic market today. 3000-4000psi will cut tree roots with the right nozzle. Ours can push 6000psi – so powerful you legally need a license to operate it.

A high performance machine such as this allows every opportunity to clear drains of most all obstructions, minimizing the necessity to call in the heavy machinery, excavate the drains and have them replaced.

Hydro jetting involves the use of a high-pressure hose with a special nozzle to blast water through the lines to clear any blockages or build up. A video inspection is done first to determine the location of the problem, as well as to ensure there are no broken or damaged pipes. Once it is safe to proceed, a water jet of anywhere from 3,000 to 6,000 psi will be used to remove the blockage. Hydro jetting is capable of removing anything from a stubborn residential clog to tree roots in a sewer line. Here are 6 benefits of hydro jetting over traditional clog removal methods such as snaking.

1. It’s Effective

Traditional methods usually work well for a number of clogs, but they are no match for the power of hydro jetting. Hydro jetting is extremely effective because it fully clears the line, removing all traces of debris and build up that occurs on the sides of the pipe. Traditional methods like snaking can remove the blockage, but they still leave residue on the walls of the pipe. Over time that residue continues to build, leading to a slow drain or another clog. That situation won’t happen with hydro jetting.

2. It Saves Money

Although hydro jetting costs a bit more than snaking techniques, in the long run it will save you money. Why? As mentioned before, hydro jetting clears the entire pipe, eliminating future problems — and future service calls. Hydro jetting is also very efficient, often taking less time than traditional methods. If you happen to be dealing with a plumber that charges by the hour, this can result in substantial savings. It is SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper than excavation & drain replacement.

3. It’s Sanitary

Although your professional plumber will be doing the dirty work, sanitation is still important. With traditional methods, there is a risk of debris and sewage possibly coming into contact not only with the worker, but also with the home and surrounding environment. The speed of hydro jetting means less time and less contact with contaminants.

4. It’s Environmentally-Friendly

Some might consider the amount of water used in hydro jetting as an environmental waste, but it’s not. Compared to chemical and procedures involved in traditional methods, hydro jetting is much more environmentally-friendly. It’s even safe for homes and buildings located near water sources such as rivers, ponds and lakes.

5. It’s Versatile

Many people think hydro jetting is only for commercial jobs, but it’s just as useful for residential plumbing issues. Hydro jetting is a versatile procedure and works on big and small jobs. It can handle a home clog that can’t be removed by snaking, such as a sludge and grease build up. It can also handle a much larger job such as tree roots blocking a sewer line.

6. It’s Good Preventative Maintenance

Hydro jetting is a great way to prevent future plumbing problems. Since it thoroughly cleans pipes in addition to unclogging them, you are doing yourself and your home a huge favor. It’s a smart thing to do. In fact, it’s a great procedure to have done when you move into a new home or building. The video inspection alone can point out any potential problems with your pipes, saving you plenty of homeowner headaches.

CCTV Drain Camera / Blockage Locators

CCTV Drain Cameras aren’t nearly as exciting as Hydro Jetters……. so no big write ups here! BUT…….. what we can say is that our CCTV Camera is the latest and greatest model out there, with an inspection range of 50 meters. Its got all the bells and whistles, so when we deliver a report to you…..or let you connect to the camera via wifi, or send you the videos / still images via bluetooth from site……you can guarantee a clear, stable, level, easy to understand view of what is happening in your drains.

We also have blockage locators, that can pinpoint the exact location and depth of the blockage. Rather handy, as it stops unnecessary and pointless digging around to try and locate “unseen” pipes.
